TWL Enterprises established Department of Coffee (DOC) in the year of 2013 in the capital city of the Philippines, Manila.
Department of Coffee was delicately placed on Wilson Street, San Juan City primarily to test the market for the city’s fresh budding
interest for specialty coffee. Sole proprietor, Myles Hontiveros, was inspired by the exquisite taste of specialty coffee while residing in
California. This inspiration led him to visit the birthplace of specialty coffee in Portland, Oregon to be traditionally trained in the art of
coffee brewing and coffee presentation. His avid drive to learn the art has resulted in developing a flourishing brand which strikes
consumers that coffee is not just a medium for getting that burst of energy, but also to indulge in a well-calibrated taste.

Department of Coffee is a developing brand with a total of four employees. These carefully chosen baristas have been diligently trained on
brewing coffee. The Department of Coffee baristas have learned how to pay close attention to the coffee bean in order to extract the
perfect espresso. Sales have profited, and now DOC is looking for an additional location to foster expansion. Department of Coffee is
eager to train new baristas to spread the well-crafted taste coffee lovers deserve.

Department of Coffee acknowledges the importance of experience when it comes to making precise coffee.
For this reason, Myles Hontiveros has a stringent standard for the quality of coffee which is served to the customer.
His training of each barista solidifies that this quality is consistent for every cup poured.

At the start of Department of Coffee, consumers were hesitant due to the higher price of the product.
Gradually, customers became educated about the complexity of the coffee.
This is due to the equipment used by DOC. Department of Coffee utilizes an Italian Engineered machine called “La Marzocco” which is
essentially the exotic level brand of coffee machines. La Marzocco was established in 1927 with the mission of developing hand-built
machines with advanced technology in comparison to commercial machines. Department of Coffee chose La Marzocco due to its
relentless performance but DOC does not stop there. Myles Hontiveros has been able to make strong connections in other coffee
growing countries to have only the highest AA specialty grade beans imported to his local micro roasters counterparts.
This tedious process is performed to insure that the freshness of the bean is not sacrificed so the espresso is extracted in its utmost ripe state.
Translated with these efforts, comes the epitome of coffee in a cup. It is no wonder that the taste becomes so apparently supreme to
the commercial distributers and creates further appreciation for the art.
The vision of DOC is towards the sky. With the expansion of the larger second location, DOC plans to have its own high line level roaster
to further push the envelop of freshness and variety. This includes the capability of making special blends and single origins in house for
the purpose of providing unique tastes that can only be identified by the name of Department of Coffee.
